Whenever there is a rape case you come to hear about women rights and feminism, and debates spring up on "how she was dressed?", "who was she with?", "where was she?"
I have no words to express how I feel when I see how women are treated around me. Every woman or girl I know is always fighting a battle through her life. If you are not yet married at 30 there is something wrong. What if you are educated, beautiful, strong, powerful you still need a man to protect you. Who needs a companion when you have a bodyguard. Why should you have a choice who you should live with if he earns well belongs to a good family.
You are getting old, your biological clock is ticking, how does it matter if you are not happy. You need to reproduce even if you do not want kids because that is the only right thing to do. You have a daughter don't you worry about your future. She will marry someone else and won't take care of you. Have a son to get a secure future.
You don't wear a mangalsutra or sindoor how will people know you are married. So what if he doesn't tell anyone he is married. So what if he comes home and beats you. Are you not worried about your husband's well being. He is a man, he can do what he wants, you can't go out so late you are from a good family.
So what if you are the most deserving candidate at work but you can't get a promotion because the man who is your competitor has to run a family. You are not the bread winner for the family. Or you might just get married and leave the job then what. Work harder stay a little longer maybe people will realise you will not run away.
You just had a kid you are not able to concentrate on your work, you refuse to travel, your family is more important to you. On the other hand see that guy always ready to go for a smoke, just last evening we had drinks. Sorry we can't discuss misogynist dirty jokes when u are around, it becomes really difficult to give you anything you are due for.
The other day I saw a post where they asked if there would be no men on the earth for 24 hours what would you do... And it's a shame to say all the women from different walks of life from different places on the earth said "I would do what I wish to do and not be scared". I thought the same.
Violence against women is not only when they are physically abused but also when mentally abused. Treat us with respect and teach your son that we are equals, we are not objects.
